DIY Homemade Bubbles | Easy & Fun Summer Craft for Kids

Is there anything more nostalgic than blowing bubbles on a warm summer day? I remember Grandma Roma tending the garden while Grandpa Al and I blew bubbles made with this recipe on the long rest between school years during beautiful summertime in Iowa. Those were the good ol’ days. And these are, too.

This fun craft will keep your little ones busy all afternoon as they blow big soapy bubbles in your backyard. They’ll love how pretty the bubbles are as they float up into the sky. And you’ll love all the memories you make together.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. In a large measuring up with a pouring spout and minimum of 8 cups capacity, such as this Anchor Hocking mixing bowl, combine all ingredients using a whisk. Go slow! Be careful to not whisk too much air into the mixture.
  2. Allow the bubble mix to settle for 1 to 2 hours (perhaps over lunch and naptime!).
  3. To store, pour into a screw top container, mason jar, or similar. You can repurpose or recycle a store bought container of bubbles for this as well and use the bubble wand. If you don't have a bubble container to repurpose, see notes.

Notes

If you don't have a store bought container of bubbles from last summer to recycle, there are lots of options. You can easily make your own bubble wand using a thick gauge wire that you bend into a circle shape. There are also many options for purchasing bubble wand kits on sites like Amazon.
