Homemade Bubbles
Is there anything more nostalgic than blowing bubbles on a warm summer day? I remember my grandma tending the garden while my grandpa and I blew bubbles made with this recipe on the long rest between school years during beautiful summertime in Iowa. Those were the days, and these are, too.
Ingredients:
2 cups Joy dish soap
3/4 cups white karo corn syrup
6 cups of water
Instructions:
In a cup with a pouring spout, mix all ingredients well, taking care not to whisk too much air into the mixture.
Let bubbles settle for 1 to 2 hours.
Optionally, pour into a screw top container with a bubble wand for storage.
Notes:
This recipe works best when the mix is warm and the weather is humid. Simply leave your (sealed) container of bubbles outside to warm it in the sun. Also note that Joy dish soap is the specific brand used in this recipe. If you try another brand of liquid dish soap, let me know how it works out!
